TIA Portal MCP Server
A Model Context Protocol server that drives Siemens TIA Portal V20 and V21 from any MCP client, letting an AI assistant create projects, generate PLC and HMI objects, compile the project and diagnose errors without writing Openness automation code by hand.
This server exposes Siemens TIA Portal's Openness automation interface as MCP tools over stdio or HTTP, so an assistant such as Cursor, VS Code or Claude Desktop can create a TIA Portal project, add hardware, generate PLC objects including tags, user-defined types, data blocks, SCL and ladder logic, build WinCC Unified screens and events, compile the project, diagnose the result, and save, all through natural-language tool calls. The bundle ships prebuilt runtimes, a skill specification, a static tool list, a capability matrix, project templates and one-shot project blueprints, so no separate source checkout is required to run it, and the same executable also works as a declarative command-line tool that applies a YAML or JSON specification without an MCP client.
A version-control feature added in a later release maps a binary TIA Portal project onto an ordinary folder with one text file per exported block, so the project can be diffed, committed and reviewed with Git and reconstructed with a documented round trip. The server itself runs with no license key or license-enforcement code, and a separate desktop edition built on the same engine is offered for users who would rather not configure an MCP client themselves.
