Tyk API Gateway

An open-source, cloud-native API and AI gateway supporting REST, GraphQL, TCP, gRPC and MCP traffic, with rate limiting, authentication, analytics and per-tool access control for AI agents.

Tyk API Gateway

Tyk API Gateway is a cloud-native, open-source API and AI gateway that supports REST (with native OpenAPI support), SOAP, GraphQL, gRPC, TCP and the Model Context Protocol (MCP). It adds rate limiting, authentication and analytics to an API without feature lockout in the open-source edition.

For AI traffic, Tyk Gateway governs MCP calls from AI agents, applying authentication, rate limiting and per-tool access control to every JSON-RPC call; a separate AI Studio component handles LLM management, including model routing, budgets and guardrails across providers. Enterprise options add a management control plane with a GUI and developer portal, either self-managed or as a hosted cloud service.

It deploys through Docker, Kubernetes (native or Helm), Ansible, or by compiling from source on Red Hat, Ubuntu or CentOS, and is written in Go.
