Varin
An independent workspace and harness for AI coding and research agents, usable on desktop, web, and mobile, built around a bundled Pi runtime with a governed permission system and two switchable interfaces: a session-centered agent workspace and a full IDE workbench.
Varin is an agent workspace and harness for coding, research, and other project work, built around a bundled Pi runtime whose model and provider stack, session tree, package manager, and extension model remain owned by Pi; Varin owns the surrounding tool environment, working state, recovery, retrieval, context policy, and task governance, calling Pi's public SDK directly rather than scraping its terminal UI.
Work is organized into threads and runs whose file changes publish as immutable roots, with agents drafting in isolated virtual or materialized workspaces and merging reviewed results back instead of editing a checkout directly. A single tool_call confirmation covers harness tools, Pi built-ins, MCP tools, package tools, and nested-thread tools, with session grants scoped to the specific tool, action, workspace, paths, and network targets approved.
Two first-party interfaces -- an Agent Workspace centered on sessions and context, and an IDE Workbench with editors, search, Git, and diagnostics around a dockable agent panel -- are themselves ordinary, swappable Varin extensions, and the project is pre-1.0 with the private runtime protocol still changing between builds.
