Vektor

A native PHP vector database that stores data in binary files on disk rather than in memory, using HNSW indexing for approximate nearest-neighbor search.

Vektor

Vektor is a vector database written entirely in native PHP, designed to run with no external dependencies or C extensions on any PHP 8.2 or newer environment. It reads vectors directly from disk using binary file layouts and disk-seeking strategies instead of loading the dataset into memory, so memory use stays constant as the dataset grows.

It uses the HNSW algorithm for approximate nearest-neighbor search, with cosine similarity as its distance metric, configurable for embeddings of a chosen dimension. Each Vektor instance is a standalone database stored by default under a data directory, file locking protects concurrent reads and writes, and it can run either embedded inside a PHP application or as a standalone HTTP API server, installed via Composer.

It is MIT licensed.
