vibe-local

A free, offline coding environment for local LLM agents, pairing Ollama-served open models with an OpenCode-based terminal interface for classrooms and workshops without a network connection or subscription.

vibe-local

vibe-local is a free, offline environment for agent-based coding built for offline workshops, students without a paid subscription, and beginners learning terminal use through natural language. It requires no network connection and no account, and installs with a single script on a Mac.

It runs local models through Ollama, using Ollama's native support for the Anthropic Messages API, and presents them through a terminal interface built on the OpenCode engine, with plan and build modes, themes and editor integration. A lightweight router sends short conversational requests to a small model and coding requests to a larger one, and the tool auto-generates memory-aware model variants so it does not exhaust RAM on modest machines. An experimental classroom mode lets one teacher's Mac serve models to several students who simply attach.

It is written for macOS, and a classic mode still runs the Claude Code CLI directly as the interface.
