VSCode Ollama

A Visual Studio Code extension that connects to a local Ollama server for chat and an autonomous coding agent that can read and modify a workspace, without leaving the editor.

VSCode Ollama

VSCode Ollama runs language models locally through Ollama, streaming chat responses with a visualized thought process and preserved history. Its coding-agent mode gives the model read, write, edit, grep, find, list and shell tools to inspect and change files in the current workspace, asking for confirmation before operations judged risky, and can delegate parts of a task to built-in subagents for codebase search, planning, implementation and review, run one at a time or in parallel.

The extension is configured through VS Code's settings for the Ollama server address, default model, maximum response tokens and model keep-alive duration, and offers commands to open the chat interface and settings page from the command palette.

It requires Ollama to be installed separately, is written in TypeScript, and is released under the MIT license.
