wcgw

wcgw is an MCP server that gives Claude and other MCP clients an interactive shell and code-editing tools on the local machine, with unrestricted, unfiltered access to the user's files and commands.

wcgw

wcgw is an MCP server with tightly integrated shell and code-editing tools, letting chat applications such as Claude run commands, edit files and build projects directly on the local machine. It provides a fully interactive shell that both the user and the agent can control, including sending individual keystrokes, and a companion VS Code extension attaches the agent's shell inside the editor.

It supports running multiple commands in the background, syntax checking on file writes and edits with feedback reported back to the model, large-file incremental edits to avoid token limits, a context-saving tool for recording file paths with a description as a task checkpoint, and different operating modes such as architect and code-writer.

It provides unfiltered access to the machine's shell and files, does not restrict what commands an LLM can run, and warns that it should be run only by someone who understands and accepts that risk. It is written in Python.
