Weaviate MCP server

The former standalone Model Context Protocol server for the Weaviate vector database, now deprecated in favor of an MCP server built directly into Weaviate itself.

Weaviate MCP server

This repository previously held a standalone Go implementation of an MCP server that wrapped the Weaviate REST API; that implementation is no longer maintained, though its history remains in git.

Weaviate now ships its own MCP server inside the main weaviate/weaviate binary as a preview feature from version 1.37.1 onward, enabled with a single environment variable. It listens on the same port as the Weaviate REST API, authenticates through the existing API-key flow, and respects Weaviate's role-based access control. Exposed tools cover inspecting collection schemas, listing tenants in a multi-tenant collection, hybrid vector-and-keyword search, and creating or updating objects.

Current documentation, setup and permission details live with the main Weaviate project rather than in this repository.
