WebCodex

A self-hosted bridge that lets cloud AI agents such as ChatGPT, Claude and other MCP clients inspect, edit and test code in a real development environment on the user's own machines.

WebCodex

WebCodex connects cloud AI agents such as ChatGPT, Claude and other MCP clients to the repositories, Git checkouts and tools a developer already uses, so a repository stays on the machine where it lives instead of being copied into a hosted workspace. An assistant can inspect a repository, modify code, run tests, use Git, or investigate a failure using the real toolchain, commands, tests, formatters and compilers already installed on that machine.

A single-computer setup installs Desktop, CLI, Server and Runner together on one workstation; a multi-computer setup installs the same package on a central WebCodex Server machine and on each machine that owns repositories. Installer targets exist for Windows, macOS and Debian/Ubuntu Linux, for both x64 and arm64, though the project notes that real-machine installation and cross-platform behavior have not yet been fully validated across all three platforms.

It is written in Rust.
