Witsy
A BYOK desktop AI assistant and universal MCP client that connects almost any LLM provider to MCP servers, with chat, image and video generation, RAG over local files, voice mode and system-wide AI commands.
Witsy is a bring-your-own-key desktop AI assistant that positions itself as one of very few universal MCP clients: it can run Model Context Protocol servers against virtually any supported LLM rather than being tied to one provider's own MCP integration. Supported providers span chat models such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Ollama, DeepSeek and OpenRouter, plus separate providers for image and video generation, text-to-speech, speech-to-text and web search.
Beyond chat, it offers text-to-image and text-to-video generation with image editing and image-to-video, plugins that let a model execute Python code or search the internet, a scratchpad for iterating on content with any model, system-wide prompt and AI-command access to highlighted text in other applications, expert prompts for specializing the assistant on a topic, a long-term memory plugin, retrieval-augmented chat over local files and documents, realtime voice mode, and computer-use support.
It can also run models locally through Ollama at no cost. It is written in TypeScript as an Electron and Vue application, and released under the AGPL-3.0 license.
