Chuks v0.2.0-rc.2: What the Candidate Found

A release post for the Chuks backend programming language describing forty-five fixes found in its v0.2.0 release candidate, almost all discovered by real programs rather than its test suite.

Chuks v0.2.0-rc.2: What the Candidate Found

Chuks is a backend programming language combining structured concurrency, async/await, and a high-performance HTTP runtime, aimed at real-world services and game backends. This post covers release candidate v0.2.0-rc.2, reached from rc.1 by forty-five fixes.

Almost none of those fixes came from the language's own test suite; they surfaced instead from writing real programs against it, a mobile framework, the apps built on it, a package registry, and an HTTP service, which the post treats as the actual purpose of a release-candidate stage. Five breaking changes are noted from rc.1, four of them because a program that used to compile turned out to be wrong.

Installing or upgrading to the release candidate is opt-in, and a plain upgrade stays on the prior stable release until v0.2.0 itself ships.
