Kaku

A macOS terminal built for AI coding, based on WezTerm, that ships with fonts, themes, shell integration, and Mac shortcuts already configured.

Kaku

Kaku, whose name means "to write" in Japanese, sets up a WezTerm-based terminal with JetBrains Mono, automatic light and dark themes, copy-on-select, and familiar Mac keyboard shortcuts out of the box, while keeping WezTerm's Lua configuration available for further customization. It supports split panes with a tab navigator, restores windows, panes, and working directories on reopening, adds a right-click menu for paste, search, and opening AI chat, and makes URLs and file paths clickable with Cmd+Click.

Its AI panel and AI chat shortcuts work alongside whatever coding tools a user already runs in the terminal, letting them configure a separate AI service for command suggestions and chat through kaku init and kaku ai. It also includes built-in zsh completion, syntax highlighting, and directory jumping, with optional integration for Lazygit and Yazi.

It is written in Rust, installs through Homebrew or a downloaded disk image, and is distributed under the MIT license.
