MacPacker

MacPacker is an archive manager for macOS that browses the contents of an archive like a folder, previews files inside it without extracting them, and drills into archives nested inside other archives. It supports more than forty formats across archives such as 7z, rar, tar, and zip, disk images such as dmg and iso, and compression formats such as gz and xz, and it can edit and re-save ZIP archives in place.

It recognizes formats by their file signature rather than relying only on the extension, integrates with Finder for right-click extraction and Quick Look previews, supports keyboard navigation with breadcrumbs and sortable columns, and can open encrypted archives. It is available in thirteen languages.

It requires macOS 14.6 or later, installs through Homebrew or as a signed and notarized download, and is written in Swift under the GPL-3.0 license.
