MacTools

A free, open-source collection of native macOS menu bar tools with a plugin marketplace, letting users build custom panels, automation workflows and system status widgets.

MacTools

MacTools is a native macOS application that puts a growing collection of menu bar tools behind one interface, covering areas such as productivity, displays, audio, cleanup and system monitoring. Plugins are chosen from a marketplace inside the app's settings and then arranged into custom panels that mix live widgets, quick controls and feature rows, with drag-and-drop rearranging and a choice of icon per panel.

Custom themes can use built-in palettes or import iTerm2 and Base16 or Base24 color schemes, with separate light and dark theme choices and a customizable menu bar icon. Automation workflows chain actions with delays and failure handling and can be triggered by a schedule, calendar events, specific apps, power state, display changes or network changes, with a history of past runs. A command palette gives quick access to any action, setting, workflow or plugin.

MacTools installs through Homebrew or as a direct download from GitHub Releases, requires macOS 14 or later, with some plugins needing newer macOS versions or specific hardware, and is released under the GPL-3.0 license.
