Maxon
A statically-typed, compiled programming language with a from-scratch native backend, designed to be written by AI coding agents and easy for a reviewer, human or model, to check rather than terse to type.
Maxon is a statically-typed, compiled programming language with its own native backend, whose compiler, standard library and documentation were all written by AI coding agents. It is built on the premise that because a model writes the code, the language should optimize for review rather than for fewer keystrokes: every constraint is stated explicitly, every block names what it closes, and little is left implicit for a reader to reconstruct later.
Domain bounds live in the type system itself, for example a typed alias that restricts an integer to a valid port range, so an agent cannot silently construct an invalid value, and fallible reads must be resolved explicitly with a try-otherwise construct rather than leaving a null value that could be forgotten. The project warns that its compiler must be run from inside the checked-out repository rather than from an installed copy on the system path, because it locates its standard library by walking up from its own executable location.
