python-hwpx-automation

A Python automation layer for authoring and filling HWPX documents, Hancom Office's format, providing a Python API, a command-line tool and an optional MCP server for AI agents, without requiring Hancom Office or Windows.

python-hwpx-automation

python-hwpx-automation builds document authoring, form-filling and agent workflows on top of the python-hwpx engine, a pure-Python library that reads, edits and creates HWPX files. The base install provides a Python API and an hwpx command-line tool with no MCP dependency; a Model Context Protocol server is added with an optional extra so AI agents such as Claude Desktop or editors like VS Code, Cursor and Windsurf can call it directly, for example generating a document from a structured plan.

Because it needs neither Hancom Office nor Windows, it can run inside a Python-only environment. A separate optional extra adds a MarkItDown-based adapter for reading non-HWPX documents such as PDF, DOCX, XLSX, HTML and plain text. A companion tool can render an HWPX file to PDF and page images using an actual Hancom Office installation when one is available, running in a separate process so it does not affect the caller's pinned python-hwpx version.

It is released under the Apache-2.0 license.
