Starcat
A native macOS app that turns a user's starred GitHub repositories into an organized, locally searchable, AI-assisted knowledge base instead of an unmanageable bookmark list.
Starcat is a native macOS app for people whose starred GitHub repositories have grown past what a simple bookmark list can handle. It syncs those repositories into a local-first workspace, renders each repository's README, and lets a user add tags, notes, and a reading status, track releases, and see a repository's general health.
Only repositories a user explicitly brings into the knowledge base are indexed for search, summaries, and retrieval-augmented question answering; marking a repository as a favorite on GitHub does not by itself create anything to manage. It can search locally, on GitHub, and across the web from one interface. Starcat began as a paid product; the app and most of its related components, apart from the private license-issuing API behind paid builds, are now open source, while official Mac App Store and direct-download builds continue to be maintained. It requires macOS 15 or newer and is written in Swift.
