Claude Code for Visual Studio

An unofficial, community-built Visual Studio 2026 extension that gives the Claude Code CLI a native diff view with accept and reject, a live debugger it can drive, Roslyn code navigation, and Test Explorer integration.

Claude Code for Visual Studio

Claude Code for Visual Studio is the IDE half of Claude Code's integration protocol, implemented natively for Visual Studio 2026 the way Claude Code already integrates with VS Code and JetBrains. The Claude Code CLI does the actual agent work; the extension opens its edits in Visual Studio's native diff viewer with a single accept or reject step, reads the user's current selection and the compiler's diagnostics automatically as context, and can read and drive a live debugger, including setting data breakpoints, to find bugs that are not visible from program output alone.

Other features include rejecting an edit with feedback so Claude reconsiders it, an auto-accept panel toggle for letting edits apply without opening the diff, Roslyn-based semantic code navigation with decompilation, a test runner that catches failing tests under the debugger, an integrated terminal, and the ability to attach files directly to a conversation.

It is a community project, not affiliated with Anthropic, written in C# and tested against a specific Claude Code CLI version; Visual Studio 2026 is currently the only supported version.
