CMake IntelliSense

A Visual Studio Code extension that adds syntax highlighting, semantic tokens, formatting, code completion and other language features for CMake scripts, built on an ANTLR4-generated parser.

CMake IntelliSense

CMake IntelliSense is a VS Code extension that gives CMake scripts editor features normally reserved for general-purpose languages: syntax highlighting, semantic tokens, auto-completion for commands, variables and properties, document formatting, document links, go to definition, find references, rename symbol, workspace symbol search, diagnostics, quick-fix code actions, and snippets, with multi-language localization.

The project uses ANTLR4 to generate the parser and lexer for the CMake language. Using it only requires installing the extension and having CMake itself installed; no other runtime dependency is needed.

Modifying the extension's own source requires setting up the ANTLR4 command-line tool, cloning the repository, running npm install and npm run develop, then launching the Client + Server debug configuration in VS Code. The project still has open items on its roadmap, including more LSP features, performance work, and more integration and unit tests.
