Jupyter Studio

An open-source JupyterLab extension and desktop app that brings a Cursor-style AI editing experience directly into notebook cells, with inline edits, a multi-step agent that can read, edit and run cells, ghost-text completion, and one-click traceback fixes.

Jupyter Studio

Jupyter Studio adds AI editing inside JupyterLab itself, keeping the same kernel, plots and state instead of requiring a developer to copy code out to a separate chat tool or a different editor. A Cmd+K inline edit lets a user select code inside any cell, describe a change, and accept the resulting diff; a chat panel understands the whole notebook and its cells and files through mentions and slash commands; and a multi-step agent runs its own plan, execute and verify loop using cell-level tools to read, edit, insert and run cells and read their output, rather than acting as a single-turn chatbot.

Other features include Copilot-style ghost-text completion native to JupyterLab, and a one-click fix for a cell that raised a traceback, where the agent diagnoses the error and patches the cell. Any OpenAI-compatible endpoint can be used as the model, including Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Azure, Ollama and vLLM, and by default no code leaves the machine unless the configured model itself is remote.

It ships as a JupyterLab extension and as a native cross-platform desktop application, and is licensed under Apache-2.0.
