Local Agent
A local agent that runs entirely on Apple Silicon, using an on-device model to plan steps and a raw Chrome DevTools Protocol client to drive a real browser and shell for end-to-end tasks such as browsing and running scripts.
Local Agent is an autonomous agent that runs entirely on Apple Silicon: a locally hosted model picks the steps for a plain-English task, and the agent carries them out in a real Brave browser and the local shell, with no cloud API calls. It began as a browser agent and has grown a system toolbelt covering shell commands, file access, screenshots, screen recording and sending results to a phone, so it can handle tasks that combine web actions with local automation in one session.
Its browser control is a raw Chrome DevTools Protocol client, written without Playwright or Selenium, that reconnects to the same tab, reads accessibility-tree snapshots, and can click, type, scroll and run JavaScript; a separate component pierces cross-origin iframes and Shadow DOM to draft comments in embedded widgets. A prompt-injection guard sits in code the model cannot switch off, and a companion tool, browser-broker, leases each agent its own tab in an off-screen window so multiple agents sharing one browser do not fight over tabs.
Inference runs through MLX using a locally hosted quantized model, and it is written in Python.
