OpenKnowledge

A private, local, markdown-first WYSIWYG editor with built-in AI editing, designed for knowledge bases, LLM wikis, specs and notes, integrated with harnesses such as Claude, Codex and OpenCode.

OpenKnowledge

OpenKnowledge is a markdown editor that behaves like a rich document editor while keeping files as plain markdown or MDX on disk, available as a desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux, a web UI, and a command-line interface, with a file navigator, search, tabs and a graph view of wiki links. It integrates side-by-side AI editing with harnesses including Claude, Codex, OpenCode and Pi, reachable through any harness or agent via MCP or the CLI.

It ships out-of-the-box MCP tools, skills and agentic search for building LLM wikis, second brains and knowledge graphs, along with no-code team sharing and automatic syncing built on Git and GitHub, and support for embeddable HTML and rich components for engineering specs and visual reports. It opens any existing folder of markdown or MDX files, including existing codebases, wikis and Obsidian vaults, and is private, local and free to use.
