Visual Studio Code

A source-available code editor built by Microsoft that combines code editing, navigation and understanding with debugging and a large extension ecosystem.

Visual Studio Code

Visual Studio Code is a distribution of the Code - OSS repository, built by Microsoft together with the community under the MIT license. It combines the simplicity of a code editor with the core edit-build-debug cycle developers need, including code navigation, comprehension support, lightweight debugging and an extensible plugin model.

The editor is updated monthly with new features and fixes, and is available for Windows, macOS and Linux; an Insiders build offers daily releases for people who want the latest changes first.

The project accepts contributions including bug reports, source changes, documentation fixes and translations, and documents its build process, development workflow, coding guidelines and pull request process for contributors.
